Summer of 2016 (poem)
Autumn has sent its golden leaves
Normally I’d say: “Hey”
But now I say:“ Away, away! Golden leaves go away!”
I want the summer, I want its joy,
I want the pearls of its waters
and birds in the skies, the gay laughter of kids in the grass,
I want the people to be crazy and wild,
I want the giggles in the hazy summer nights,
I want the hot kisses
under the rays of the sun, I feel like that’s only just begun
I want that and so much more,
however, in fear of being a bore I’ll shortly stop
But before I do, I have to write a few words more
This summer has been the most smashing of all,
you can believe my soul will never forget it
even if it turns black like coal.
