If the War Breaks Out (poem)

If the war breaks out will, anyone, earnestly be surprised?
Look at us! Look!
Skeletons walking through the purgatory, we once called safe haven
Choke, die, blurt out the truth, push, resist, do not give in

What for?

Living that is merely killing time until
death sinks its demonic teeth into our spineless backs,
draining the blood from its sinuous veins

Chase after it, but do so comically,
do so artfully
Cover it well
Be the master of disguise
Pull the wool over their eyes
They will never know

Then run into the rush hour in full speed,
with empty chest and a broken smile
Go on!
Do it!
Surrender!
Commit for the love of God!

But,
You stepped onto the pavement
So you do not actually want to die

I see the light in your eyes
Your warmth is magnetic, explosive, electric
Everything you touch turns into gold

“I want to see it all bloom.”

All in good time, my love,
All in good time.
